I will lift up my eyes to the hills – From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to [a]be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. The Lord shall [c]preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve[d] your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.
-Psalm 121
The Lord will give precious victories to those who put their faith in Him and seek to become one with Him, enabling them to work out His righteous will. What joy it gives to parents to bestow good gifts upon their children! Yet the Saviour says, “How much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him.” The Father is more willing to bestow His grace than we are to ask for it. “If ye shall ask anything in My name,” He says, “I will do it.” “The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” Whatever we ask in Christ’s name, and in accordance with His will, He gives us. But it means much to ask in Christ’s name. It means to ask in the simplicity of a little child, and with full trust that what we ask for we shall look up to the mountains and hills, longing for God’s help.
Bearing this in mind we realize that our true help and protection is only from God who is our creator. He made the heavens, and the earth. God wants to guard and guide us so that we will not stumble or fall. As our keeper, He will never forget nor ignore us because He is a God who does not sleep because of His Guardianship; He watches over us, sheltering and safely keeping us in His presence as He stays by our sides. He protects us day and night from all danger and keep us from every form of evil or calamity because of His continuous watch. Knowing that God Himself is our guard, we are safe going anywhere having forever God’s protection.
Having God as our helper we are thankful for the truth of His words and promises in transforming our lives, healing our brokenness, having the joy of going through the storms of life, giving us moments of joy, comfort, and the peace beyond our understanding.
